Reid was introduced to SUP while living in Naples, Florida and immediately enjoyed catching waves in the gulf. Once he learned about SUP racing, he was hooked on the sport and started competing in area races. A quick learner with natural ability, Reid already has several strong finishes under his belt including second place in the 2011 Cold Stroke Classic and 2011 Mayors Cup, fourth in the 2011 Pacifico Paddle Challenge and third place in the 2011 GCSUPC, all in the 12’6″ Division. Originally from King, North Carolina, Reid is now a graduate student in Fisheries at Auburn University, studying the impacts of the 2010 BP oil spill on estuarine fishes along the Alabama coastline. For Reid, SUP offers the perfect combination of being out on the water communing with nature, as well as getting to meet all of the wonderful people that make up the SUP community. Reid has fit right into the YOLO Board family and is looking forward to racing in new locales and spreading the YOLO stoke. When not paddling or working, Reid enjoys spending time with his parents and younger brother, photography, snowboarding, surfing, and pretty much anything else that is outdoors and active.
