Board Questions

To get started choosing the right stand up paddle board ask yourself the following questions. Then browse our Boards to see what floats your boat.

1) What activities do you plan to do on your board?

2) What is your experience level

3) What is the right board for your height and weight?

Avoid prolonged exposure to sun.

Rinse off & dry before storing.

Fix dings with epoxy resin only (not polyester resin).

Make sure vent plug is screwed in with your fingers (not a tool),“tight to the right”- do not ever turn it to the left or unscrew it.

Make sure your fin screw is tight before you go into the water.

Fins should be removed occasionally and fin box rinsed out.

Fins should never hit the sand, whether paddling or surfing.

YOLO Boards are too large to be shipped by UPS or Fedex, we ship using LTL Freight. The freight company will call the phone number you provide to schedule the best time for delivery. Upon delivery, you must inspect the board for damage and sign off on the shipping company’s paperwork. If there is any damages throughout the shipping process, please refuse the board upon arrival to your location. If this is the case, YOLO Board will promptly send you another board for replacement.

The only tool you will need for the job is a screwdriver. To properly install your SUP fin, remove the screw that comes inserted in your fin box while leaving the screw plate in the fin box. Your fin will have two metal pins on the back portion and these pins are to be inserted into the wide slot of the fin box. Once the back of the fin is inserted, slide the fin along the track to the back of the fin box. You will see a hole at the front of your fin and this is where the screw you took out will now go. Align the screw plate underneath the fin and screw down your fin. You want the screw to be snug but do not overtighten or you run the risk of damaging your fin or fin box.

There are several ways to transport your paddleboard, but the most common and arguably the easiest is to transport it on the roof of your vehicle. If you have cross bars on the roof of your vehicle, transport is as easy as strapping the board to those crossbars. If you don’t have crossbars, no worries! Soft racks are designed to be placed on your roof and create a secure mounting point for your paddleboard. We recommend positioning your board with the deck pad down and your fin to the front.

Your SUP leash is designed to not let your board get away from you. It keeps you tethered to your board, which is helpful in all water conditions. All it takes is one wave on a choppy day to take your board away from you if you’re not careful!

Yes and no… As of 2008, all paddleboards are now considered “vessels” by the United States Coast Guard in the state of Florida. Since paddleboards are considered “vessels” a PFD (personal floatation device) and a signalling whistle are required to be onboard at all times. This does not mean you have to wear the PFD, but it does have to remain visible on your board.
Note, if you remain in the surf zone no PFD or whistle are required.

SUP Paddles Questions

Adjustable paddles are great for those who would like to share their paddle with others or prefer the option of making their paddle longer or shorter. If you are buying a board for your family, adjustable is the way to go! It’s a one size fits all solution.

Fixed carbon fiber paddles are going to provide a more customized fit for your individual stroke when paddling your board. We take your height and then cut and epoxy a handle that will be a perfect fit for you. This is the way to go for those who are wanting to take their paddling experience to the next level.

Not necessarily. Although different blade sizes will offer different benefits, the most standard is the medium size (95 square inches). This is where the majority of paddlers feel most efficient in the water.

Many first time paddlers have the tendency to paddle with the paddle blade facing backwards and scooping the water as they paddle. The correct way to paddle is with the blade front facing away from you and the dihedral (flared) edge facing towards you. This will allow for a better grab on the water and a clean release at the end of your stroke which makes for a faster, and more responsive paddle. With YOLO Paddles® the design mark is on the front of the blade which faces away from the paddler.

Generally speaking, paddle height is 8-10 inches above the paddler’s height. Some people like it shorter for surfing and some like it longer for paddling. Standing with no shoes on, with arm raised (not overextended), your paddle should sit in your palm. We will cut fixed paddles to your desired length. Adjustable paddles are great for multiple paddlers. Please note: Paddles are not to be used as a push pole or shovel. You will damage or break them. They should only be used to push water only.

Bikes Questions

YOLO Bikes are thoughtfully crafted with ergonomic efficiency in mind and unlike most cruisers they are built with industry leading, lightweight components usually found on performance bikes. The result is an aesthetically pleasing product that can stand up to the rigors of the road like no other.

The fatter tires allow for heightened control and a smoother riding experience. With a wider tire also comes the ability to power through various terrains with ease, however the 3″ tires are not designed for soft sand beach riding.
